In a noisy world the process of using oil and cold wax can be a calming escape. I begin with an intuitive underdrawing and then respond with the oil and cold wax to create the finished piece.

For some time I have been experimenting with oil and cold wax. It’s such a lovely painting medium - smells lovely (I use a lemon-scented cold wax) and is a contemplative, tactile method. Quietly Yours 1 & 2 were both created during a session exploring colour below the oil and cold wax and also using pigment powders on top to add a mere hint of colour. I love the quiet simplicity of them both and hope you do too.
